As per the directives of the National Council for Teachers Education/Uttar Pradesh Government, the eligibility requirement for admission to B. Ed. course of the University of Lucknow shall be a graduate degree in Arts or Science with at least two subjects taught at school level from a university established by law and recognised as a university by the University Grants Commission.

In addition to the above, candidates belonging to Unreserved and Other Backward Classes category are required to have a minimum of 45 per cent marks in their graduate/postgraduate examination. However, for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, only a graduate degree is the minimum requirement. At the time of submission of application form, the candidate must be a graduate.

Candidates who have not studied two school teaching subjects at the graduate level or do not possess the graduate degree at the time of filing of the form are advised not for the admission test. School subjects are as follows:

1. Arts Stream
Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Geography, Political Science/Civics, Economics/Home Science and Mathematics

2. Science Stream
(i) For PCM Stream: Mathematics, Science (Physics and Chemistry)
(ii) For ZBC Stream: Biology (Botany and Zoology), Science (Chemistry)

Joint entrance examination is held for all the B. Ed. seats in Uttar Pradesh and this J.E.E is conducted by a designated university every year.

After J.E.E results, counselling is held across the state of U.P and students are called according to merit and allcoated the college of their choice.

Once a student choses this college, he/she has to report to the college along with allotment letter with self-attested photocopies of all certificates and marks sheets and six passport size photographs.

If a candidate wants to avail the benefit of reservation and/or weightages, he/she should submit attested photocopies of the relevant certificates issues by the competent authority only.
